Describe it
In one line
A calm reverse coloring app: the watercolor comes first, then your lines.
In two sentences
Color Before the Lines is a reverse coloring app for iPhone, iPad and Android. Every page starts as a finished watercolor, and you draw what you see in it with a pen, a pencil or a stylus.
In a paragraph
Coloring books ask you to stay inside the lines. Color Before the Lines turns that around: every page is a finished watercolor, and the person drawing decides what it becomes. Ten original watercolors, a pen, a pencil and an eraser, and six shades from white to black that let the color shine through. Every drawing is recorded as it happens and can be shared as a short timelapse. The app is free, with no ads, no account and no in-app purchases, and drawings stay on the device. Enhanced readability and Reduce Motion are built in.
Who makes it
Color Before the Lines is designed and built by Valerio Donfrancesco at Bytelegion OÜ, a small independent software studio. The idea comes from reverse coloring books, where loose color is printed first and readers draw the outlines.
